ACRNA Conference Interactive Workshop

Interactive Workshop

High Performance Control Room Operations

Presented by: Ian Nimmo, User Centered Design Services Inc.

Don’t be in a rush to leave – your conference registration includes the interactive workshop on Day 2.

Ian Nimmo of User Centered Design Services Inc. www.mycontrolroom.com will facilitate this workshop and introduce his 6-step model for High Performance Control Room Operations.

The model steps through Workload, Alarms, HMI, Screen Layout, Console Design and Control Rooms to achieve High Performance, giving Members a little of all the six steps.

“I believe Human Performance is hindered and Situation Awareness is compromised if the customer does not have a plan to address each of these six steps”, says Ian. “Many customers have tried doing these elements individually and have not achieved High Performance Operations.”

Ian has also written books on alarms and HP HMI and is involved in writing ISA and IEC standards and inputting to EEMUA documents.

He is happy to touch on many topics in the workshop referencing ISO 11064 and EEMUA 201 Integrated Human Factor Assessment.

Work is just starting ISA 60 Control Room Standard and more details should be available at the workshop on plans and progress, and how to become involved in the drafting committee.
