Webinar #5: Cyber Security – The Unlikely Romance; How Hackers are Defending Control Room Networks

Webinar Date: 29/09/2021

Webinar Time: 11:00 am (AEDT)

Description: When most folks hear the word "hacker" their reaction is one of fear, but those responsible for cybersecurity are increasingly understanding the role of the "digital locksmiths" amongst us. In this talk, Casey Ellis will unpack the unlikely romance between trusted, good-faith computer hackers, and the people who build and defend software infrastructure. He'll share insights on how this feedback loop between builders and breakers has broken out of the early-adopter technology bubble to create a more resilient Internet for more traditionally conservative industries, including those where ICS/SCADA make up the core of their business. There will also be plenty of time for Q&A, so get your questions ready!

Will I be able to access the talks later?

ACRNA is still learning the best ways to record and post the Webinars. Webinar #1 will be a Pilot from which we will learn much more about producing and presenting the Webinars, how they are will be received by the members, and how the presentation and production can be improved in the future.
In any event, Webinar recordings will be a members' resource available only to ACRNA members.

In early 2020 the ACRNA started planning the first of a series of regional one-day conferences around Australia to provide the opportunity for greater regional participation. The first conference was to be held in Adelaide during May or June. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and social distancing requirements, it is no longer possible to go ahead with the Adelaide regional conference. Depending on when and how the restrictions are eased, our annual ACRNA conference may also be impacted.

As an alternative to the regional one-day conferences, the ACRNA is developing a series of Webinars to share experiences and knowledge about how these events are impacting the ability of control rooms to deliver their critical services.

Topics to be discussed include contingency planning, resource management, the human impact, the challenges and what does the control room during and after COVID-19 look like.

The ACRNA webinars will provide our members with an opportunity for participation and knowledge sharing.
