ACRNA 2019 Conference
The ACRNA 2019 Conference was held in a chilly Melbourne from Tuesday 29 October to Thursday 31 October at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel.
The ACRNA 2019 Conference theme of Change Management and the Impacts of Technology was presented with the epigram:
"The more things change, the more they remain the same".
We explored in plenary by a range of specialists and practitioners over three days:
- By design, networking opportunities were plentiful; both during session breaks and more socially over dinner and drinks in the evening. This gave participants from industries as diverse as energy, transport and academia the opportunity to share control room experiences and ideas.
- As in previous conferences, site visits to control rooms of local energy, transport and emergency response facilities were a highlight, with delegates sharing observations in a post-visit debrief.
- The ACRNA Annual General Meeting on day 3 underlined the healthy growth of the Association with many new members nominating for committee positions and enthusiastic discussion on the direction of the Association.
In summary, attendees departed the ACRNA 2019 Conference with pockets full of business cards and a much greater perspective of control room trends across a range of industries.
The Conference SubCommittee is grateful to the presenters and site visit hosts who gave up their time and energy and helped to bring the conference theme of Change, Change Management and Technology Challenges to life.
Delegates participated in excellent discussions, live site visits, panel sessions, workshops and video presentations which are now available to ACRNA members to download at the "Conference Presentations" button above.
ACRNA 2020-2021 Conference
In consideration of the time we will all need to adjust to and emerge from CoViD-19, the 2020 Conference may be postponed to 2021. In the meantime, ACRNA is developing a short-format programme of webinars to make sure the ACRNA network remains relevant and accessible.
ACRNA is obliged to hold its Annual General Meeting before 31st December 2020. As long as we fulfill the regulatory requirements, we are permitted to hold the AGM with remote attendance. Details will be advised in due course.
We are still seeking ideas for themes, presenters, site visits, workshops, training, seminars, and offers of assistance for an attended event to be held as soon as is practicable. Please get in touch with the Conference SubCommittee using the form below.
